Hartwick Picks Up First Win of Season against FDU-Florham

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Hawks picked up their first win of the 2022-2023 season on Saturday afternoon with a win over the FDU-Florham Devils in the second day of the Stevenson Tip-Off Classic.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Hawks led from the start of the first half until mid-way through when the Devils used a couple of threes and a free throw to go from two points down to two points ahead.
  • FDU's lead would be short-lived as the Hawks bounced right back as Anthony Girard (Chestertown, N.Y.) got hot from deep, knocking down three-straight three pointers to regain the lead 27-20.
  • Hartwick stayed ahead for the remainder of the first half, taking a nine-point lead into the break.
  • Hartwick picked up where they left off in the second half, riding the hot hand of Sammuel Prosper (Milford, Mass.) who took his turn getting hot from behind the arc.
  • FDU gave one final push in the last minute of play, getting as close as eight points down, but two free-throws by Girard with 34 seconds remaining in the contest sealed the win 76-66.
  • Girard and Prosper finished with 20 and 19 points respectively.
  • Liam Drennan (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Nick Eiler (Highland Mills, N.Y.) each scored nine.
  • Collectively, the Hartwick offense shot over 50% from the field, including 42.9% from range.
