Hawks Can’t Overcome Pioneers Hot First Half, Fall in Empire 8 Action

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks could not find an answer to the high-powered Pioneer offense on Saturday afternoon, falling 94-60 in Empire 8 action.

  • The Pioneers came out firing on all cylinders from behind the arc on Saturday afternoon, putting away 10 of 15. 
  • The visitors from Utica also shot 64.7% from the field, while holding Hartwick to 32.1%.
  • Anthony Girard (Chestertown, N.Y.) and Nick Eiler (Highland Mills, N.Y.) finished the first half with eight points apiece.
  • The Hawks were able to quiet the Pioneers from three-point range in the second half, holding the visitors to just 26.7%.
  • While Hartwick only scored six less points than Utica in the second half, the deficit was too much to overcome as the host squad ultimately fell 94-60.
  • Girard and Eiler finished as the top-two scorers for the Hawks, putting away 15 and 12 respectively.
