Box Score MARCY, NY – The Women's Lacrosse team was secured their first win of the season at SUY Poly this evening by a final score of 18-2.  The game was postponed yesterday due to weather and ultimately moved to Marcy to get the game in before the end of the week.   The win brings Hartwick to an even 1-1 on the season.  This was SUNY Poly's first game of the year so they fell to 0-1.
 
Hartwick controlled the game from the opening draw, scoring on the game's first possession and never looking back.  The Hawks raced to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, then extended that to 11-0 by the end of the first half, putting the game well out of reach for the hosts.  Hartwick recorded 27 shots in the first half compared to just 6 for the Wildcats.  Wick needed just 3 saves from Samantha Miller in the half to keep the shutout on the board.
 
The second half proved to be much of the same, with Hartwick scoring the first 3 before relinquishing their first goal of the game.  The Hawks found themselves ahead 15-1 at the end of the 3^rd and closed the 4^th having scored 3 out of the quarter's 4 goals to win the game easily.
 
Claudia Pollaro and Ellie Masterpole led the way with 3 goals each for the Hawks.  Katrina Marten, Gabrielle Stringer, Kristen Vaccarelli, Emily Madigan and Emily Schaub each recorded 2.  Grace Ollendike and Kierstin Aroksaar both netted 1.  Samantha Miller finished with 3 saves, all in the first half, after 60 minutes of play in goal.
 
Hartwick finished a perfect 10-10 on clear attempts and picked up 26 ground balls and 45 total shots.  Wick controlled the ball offensively, turning it over just 7 times while forcing 15 from the hosts. 
 
The next scheduled game for Hartwick is this Saturday when they host Smith College at 1:00PM.  However, snow could play a factor in that game as well (surprise, surprise) so pay attention to Hartwickhaws.com for schedule updates!
