Annandale-On-Hudson, NY – The Hartwick women's lacrosse team was in action at Bard College this afternoon for their third game of the 2022 season.  The Hawks and Raptors played an evenly matched game but it was Hartwick who ended up with the win after the final whistle, 11-10.  Hartwick's record moved to 2-1 on the season while Bard fell to 2-2.

Kristen Vaccarelli opened up the scoring for the Hawks just two minutes into the game, but Bard pulled even a short time after in what would become a common theme of the game.  Although the raptors took the lead with 6:56 to play in the first, Hartwick's
Emily Madigan evened the score at 2 apiece off a pass from
Teresa DiNanno.  Madigan again evened the score 3 minutes later, this time assisted by
Katrina Marten.  The flurry of scoring continued with Bard taking yet another 1 goal advantage before Hartwick closed the quarter out with a
Kristen Vaccarelli and
Gabrielle Stringer goal.

Hartwick's lead was short lived though, as the Raptors evened the score at 5 early in the 2
nd.  After
Ellie Masterpole gave Wick yet another lead, Bard stormed back scoring the next two to put themselves back into the lead.  However,
Claudia Pollaro had other plans and scored with 4:14 remaining to send the teams into he break tied at 7.

The back and forth play continued in the 2
nd half, with Hartwick regaining the lead in the 3
rd but Bard taking it right back on the next two possessions.  Down 8-9 midway through the third, Hartwick scored the next three goals of the game to open up a 2 point advantage early in the 4
th.  Despite a Bard goal at 7:43 to bring the score to 11-10 in favor of Hartwick, that goal proved to be the last and the Hawks held on for the excited one point victory.

Ellie Masterpole and
Kristen Vaccarelli finished the game with 3 goals each, followed by
Emily Madigan with 2 and
Claudia Pollaro,
Emily Schaub, and
Gabrielle Stringer with 1.
Katrina Marten had 3 assists on the afternoon.

Samantha Miller played all 60 minutes in goal, stopping 7 shots in the win.  Two of those saves were more important than the others though, as Miller stopped two free position shots by Bard with less than 90 seconds remaining in the game.  Bard's final 4 shots of the game were on goal, all of which were saved to preserve the advantage.

The Hawks head home for the first time this season on Saturday at noon against King's College.
