SCRANTON, Pa. – The Hartwick Hawks men's soccer team dropped their season opener on the road at Marywood, 2-1.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks opened the scoring in the 19th minute of play as Jim Mahony (Bournemouth, England) found the inside right post off of Ethan Kaiser's (Red Hook, N.Y.) cross.
- Hartwick continued to put shots on net, out shooting Marywood 7-3. Unfortunately, they were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
- The visitors held their 1-0 lead well into the second half.
- Unfortunately, the Pacers put six shots on goal themselves in the second and converted on two to take the 2-1 advantage.
- The game tying strike came in the 72nd minute of action, while the go-ahead occurred in the 81st.
- Rodrigo Fernandez (Leon, Mexico) lead the Hawks with 4 overall shots, one of which was on net.
- "The Pacers' scrappy play was the difference in the second half," remarked Head Coach, John Scott. "We were reminded that we need to continue to battle."

The Hawks will have a fairly quick turn around with their home opener on Sunday, September 4
th against Susquehanna University. Kick off is set for 1 PM.
