ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Hawks scored first in a road contest at the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the Yellow Jackets defeated Hartwick 5-2.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Sydney Gagnon (Chestertown, N.Y.) put the Hawks on the board first with her first goal of the season off of a centering pass from Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.). Ruzzi was credited with the assist.
- The Yellow Jackets bounced back with a goal of their own in the 2nd quarter to even up the contest.
- From there, Rochester would go on to score four more tallies to extend the lead to 5-1.
- The tandem of Gagnon and Ruzzi struck again off of a corner attempt with less than three minutes left in regulation. Gagnon recorded the goal, while Ruzzi once again notched the assist.
- Faith Weaver (Clay, N.Y.) stepped up for the Hawks on defense, recording two defensive saves in the second quarter.

Hartwick will now turn their attention to their home opener on Wednesday, September 7 as they square off with local rival Oneonta State at 4 PM at Wright Stadium.
