ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks opened their home slate with a commanding 5-0 victory over town rival Oneonta State on Wednesday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks doubled up the Red Dragons in shots, 6-3 through the first two quarters. Five of those were on goal, but the Oneonta keeper was up to the challenge.
- The Hawks and Red Dragons remained deadlocked heading into the 3rd quarter.
- Just under four minutes into the 3rd, Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) put the Hawks on the board, finding the left corner of the cage off of a Sydney Gagnon (Chestertown, N.Y.) pass. Gagnon was credited with the assist.
- From that point on, Hartwick would go on a scoring spree, putting up three more goals over the course of the next seven minutes.
- Holly Calore (Rocky Point, N.Y.) flicked a shot over the Oneonta keeper's outstretched kicker for her first of the season. Caroline Aspuru (Farmingville, N.Y.) was credited with the assist.
- Next to get in on the action was senior, Lex Matarazzo (Commack, N.Y.) who also picked up her first of the season with a shot to the left post off of a pass from Calore.
- Aspuru ended the 4-goal explosion with her first collegiate goal, redirecting Tricarico's pass.
- The Hawks continued to push the envelope in the 4th quarter putting up 4 shots, one of which found the back of the cage as Libby Fortin picked up the unassisted tally at the 56:42 mark.
- Overall, the Hawks outshot the Red Dragons 20-5.
- Madison Maddocks (Garrison, N.Y.) picked up the shut-out victory, denying all four of the shots she faced.

The Hawks will hit the road again for another non-conference test as they head to Ithaca to face the Bombers at 1 PM on Saturday, September 10.
