Tennis Makes it Three Straight W’s with Sweep of Bard

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Women's tennis returned to their home court on Friday afternoon and walked away with their third straight win and third straight sweep.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Despite having just under a week off from competition, the Hawks kept their edge to take all three doubles matches and all six singles matches for the 9-0 win.
  • The 3rd doubles team of Maggie Van Valkenburgh (Highland, N.Y.) and Maddi Morrison (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) dropped only one game, cruising to an 8-1 victory.
  • While the team swept doubles, it was in their singles matches where the squad showed their dominance.
  • Across six matches, Hartwick only dropped seven games.
  • Colleen Marsh (Marcellus, N.Y.) was the first to finish in singles, with a 6-1 and 6-0 win.
  • Van Valkenburg was the second to finish also winning 6-1 and 6-0.  Across her two matches, the sophomore only dropped two games.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks will hit the road on Tuesday, September 13 to make up their rained out non-conference dual match with SUNY Cortland at 4 PM.
