ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks faltered late in their Empire 8 battle with the Highlanders, falling 63-59.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Hartwick led by nine after the first quarter, shooting 58% from the floor while holding Houghton to just 27%.
- The Highlanders came back on the Hawks to outscore them by one in the second quarter, but Hartwick still carried the 35-27 lead into halftime.
- Houghton continued to chip away at Hartwick's lead in the third quarter, closing the gap to just a five-point margin.
- From there, the Highlanders put on the pressure, shooting 70% from the field to outscore the Hawks 21-12 in the fourth quarter to ultimately take the 63-59 win.
- Sareena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) led the Hawks in scoring with 13 apiece.
- Daniella DeBiase (Staten Island, N.Y.) made her 2022-2023 season debut for Hartwick, drilling a three-pointer from the top of the circle with just over a minute left in the first quarter.
