Hartwick Outlast Mavericks at Home, Claim 61-50 Empire 8 Win

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks took a seven-point advantage into halftime and did not look back to claim the 61-50 Empire 8 win over the visiting Medaille University Mavericks.

  • The Hawks jumped out to a seven-point lead just over two minutes into the contest and they would retain that advantage through the rest of the first and second quarters to take a 28-21 lead into halftime.
  • Sareena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.) not only led the way with five points at the half, the junior also pulled down 10 rebounds in her 17 minutes of action in the first half.
  • Medaille rallied back in the third to cut the Hartwick lead to just five points.
  • However, a 54% shooting effort in the fourth quarter for the Hawks, put the Mavericks away as they claimed the 61-50 victory.
  • DiCerbo would go on to complete the double-double, scoring 11 to go along with 17 boards.
  • Bree Fargnoli (Binghamton, N.Y.) dropped 13 points, while Isabella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) was the other Hawk to finish in double-figures with 11 points.
