WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick and Alfred battled back and forth throughout the first quarter with neither team gaining more than a four-point lead.
  • Down, 12-8 heading into the second quarter, the Hawks worked to cut the deficit, ultimately taking over the lead with a three-pointer by Angelina Maselli (Burlington, Conn.) with 1:30 remaining in the first half.
  • Hartwick would retain that lead for the remainder of the half, finishing the first twenty minutes of play with a two-point advantage.
  • The Saxons came out firing in the second half, scoring seven-straight before the Hawks got on the board with a Sareena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.) layup.
  • Alfred extended their lead to eight before Hartwick went on a run of their own to get to within three by the end of the third quarter.
  • Caitie Unger (Warwick, N.Y.) got things rolling for the Hawks with a deep two-pointer followed by a Maselli layup to give Hartwick a one-point lead.
  • The Saxons responded with a layup of their own before Unger struck again, this time from deep to regain the lead.
  • Alfred stayed within striking distance for the remainder of the fourth quarter ultimately gaining the lead with just over a minute left in the contest.
  • Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Saxons iced the game at the free-throw line to claim the 52-49 win.
  • Unger led the Hawks in scoring with 13 points, including a 2 for 3 performance from behind the arc.
