ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Hawks picked up a key Empire 8 victory on Saturday afternoon with a 76-70 road win at Elmira.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks traded baskets with the Golden Eagles throughout most of the first half.
- However, Hartwick swung the momentum into their favor with just over a minute left in the first as Bobby Connors (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) put the Hawks up by four with a layup off of an assist from Jeremiah Boateng (Springfield, Va.)
- The Hawks pushed their lead to seven points with six second remaining when Connors picked up a steal and hit Cooper Francis (Lynbrook, N.Y.) for a fastbreak layup.
- Fouled on the play, Francis hit the free throw to give Hartwick a 36-29 lead headed into the break.
- The Hawks continued to pull away in the second half, extending their lead to 15 points midway through the second.
- Elmira chipped away at Hartwick's lead down the stretch, getting within five with just over a minute left to play.
- Kevin Felasco (Liverpool, N.Y.) picked up a steal off of a Golden Eagles rebound, but was fouled and found himself at the line.
- Felasco converted the first free throw, but missed the second.
- However, Francis hustled after the rebound and found Sammuel Prosper (Milford, Mass.) near half court to give Hartwick a fresh shot clock.
- The Hawks worked the ball around and ultimately found Felasco who knocked down a three to put the visitors up by nine.
- Elmira continued to put pressure on the Hawks, committing fouls to put Hartwick on the line.
- The Hawks responded, hitting six straight free throws to ice the game to pick up the 76-70 win.
- Five Hawks scored in double figures with Felasco leading the way with 21 points, nine of which came from behind the arc.
- Francis added 17 points to Hartwick's offensive effort, while Prosper, Connors, and Boateng each chipped in 12 points.
