The Hawks started the game on the defensive side of the ball, facing pressure for most of the quarter. Ashley Luppens (Wading River, N.Y.) posted a strong five saves as the quarter ended scoreless.

Hartwick began to get their offense rolling, posting eight shots on the half and three corners but their closest chances were unfortunately saved.

The opposition was first to score with around four minutes left in the half.

With the third quarter underway, the Red Dragons tacked on four more goals throughout the quarter.

The Hawks scored their first goal of the game in the fourth quarter as Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.) pushed the ball upfield past several defenders and was able to score from the right side of the circle.

Luppens picked up 16 saves on the day as the Hawks finished with nine shots and five corners showing fight until the end.
