WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks jumped on the Highlanders late in the first quarter behind the stick of Holly Calore (Rocky Point, N.Y.) who put away two goals in less than a minute.
- The senior's first strike was an unassisted tally putting one away in a scrum in front of the keeper.
- Calore's second score, completed a corner play, redirecting Ashley Tricarico's drive from the top of the circle ever so slightly to find the back of the cage.
- Unfortunately, the Highlanders cut Hartwick's lead in half with a goal of their own with 16 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.
- The Hawks stayed in control offensively for the remainder of the first half and well into the fourth quarter, but could not find the back of the cage to give themselves some breathing room.
- Tricarico was able to finally break through early in the 53rd minute of action, corralling the Houghton keeper's save to find the left corner of the cage, giving the Hawks a 3-1 lead.
- The score would stay that way for the rest of the contest as Hartwick moved to 4-0 in Empire 8 play.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will head out on the road on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference contest against SUNY New Paltz at 3:30 PM.
