WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks faltered early in the contest, dropping all three doubles matches in extremely close matches.

  • Phoebe Olson (Jamestown, N.Dak.) picked up a straight set (6-3, 6-2) win at 1st Singles.
  • At 4th Singles, Lily Vanuga (Springville, N.Y.) also picked up a straight set win, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-1.
  • Maggie Van Valkenburgh (Highland, N.Y.) continued her dominance at 6th Singles, staying undefeated this fall at the spot with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
  • However, it was not enough to overcome the Cardinals' hot start as the squad eventually fell 5-4.
