Hawks Take Second At Hartwick Relays

Oneonta, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Swim and Dive Team hosted their annual Hartwick Relays and finished second in a strong start to open up the season.

 

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick started the day off with Marielle Rodriguez(Mamaroneck, N.Y.) scoring a strong 181.05 to place her second in three meter diving. Rodriguez followed by placing third in one meter diving with a 178.45.

  • Jumping into the first relay for the Hawks, Bree Dy(Matawan,N.J.), Min-Syun Chen(Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Cate Russo(San Pedro, Cal.), and Ellie Baird(Wilton, N.Y.) placed second with a combined time of 4:20.51. Baird capped the race off in an impressive time of 58 seconds in the 400 yard medley.

  • The trio of Chen, Courtney Pierce(Fulton, N.Y.) and Danielle DeCarlo (Whitesboro, N.Y.) placed first in 3x100 breaststroke with a blazing time of 3:42.91 giving the Hawks fourteen more points.

  • Building off that momentum, that same trio placed second in the 3x200 Medley 3x200 IM Relay finishing with a time of 7:21.

  • Dy, Pierce, Amanda Wilbur(Watkins Glen, N.Y.) and Meghan Geczy(Queensbury, N.Y.)finished second in the 200 yard Medley just two seconds behind meet winner Brandeis.

  • Hartwick finished with 82 points on the day earning them second place out of six.

  • Along with Hartwick was Brandeis, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Delhi, The College of Saint Rose and Union College.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will return to Moyer Pool for a Tri-Meet with SUNY Delhi and The College of Saint Rose on October 21st beginning at 9 AM.
