WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
-
On October 7th, the Hawks honored their seniors before the match. Ethan Kaiser(Red Hook, N.Y.), Jim Mahony(Bournemouth,England), Ben Hulbert(Bar Harbor, ME), Brady Cummings(Shoreham, N.Y.), Rodrigo Fernandez(Leon, Mexico) and Nik Heasley(Hudson Falls, N.Y.).
-
The Hawks picked up a goal in the October 7th downpour which was put away by a lurking Jake Daly (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) who was able to capitalize on a loose ball knocked away by the goalkeeper.
-
The second half began and the Hawks were punctual, making an array of touch passes and moving the ball down field with fluidity. Putting pressure on the Keuka backline from the starting whistle helped the Hawks attack from all angles.
-
Mahony worked his way down the field with the ball, creating space for a chance and looking for a fellow Hawk. Mahony tapped the ball to an incoming Will Napierala(Endwell, N.Y.) who was able to take a step into the box and rip a goal into the lower right corner in the 54th minute.
-
Hartwick dialed it back and played more defensively, wanting to protect their two goal lead.
-
Keuka created several chances including a dangerous shot on goal from in the box after a free kick but it was thwarted by Dante Gesamondo(Lynnfield, Mass.)as he notched five saves for the clean sheet.
-
The Hawks totaled twenty shots compared to the Wolves nine as well as winning the corner battle fifteen to one.
