PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Hawks dropped a tough Empire 8 contest 2-1 on the road at St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- In a battle of the two unbeatens in Empire 8 standings, the Hawks took control early, earning three penalty corners and putting four shots on goal.
- Despite their efforts, Hartwick could not find the back of the cage.
- The momentum started to swing in favor of the Cardinals in the 2nd quarter as the home squad was able to match the Hawks shot for shot with both teams putting two on goal.
- The score remained a scoreless deadlock through the second quarter and into most of the 3rd quarter.
- However, it was Fisher who would finally break through, picking up a goal in the 40th minute of play.
- The Cardinals followed that tally up with a second in the 44th minute of play to take the 2-0 lead.
- Hartwick's Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was able to cut the lead in half in the 49th minute. Julie Ruzzi (Rondout Valley, N.Y.) notched her team-high 7th assist on the play.
- Unfortunately for the Hawks, they were unable to find the equalizer, as the score would remain 2-1 in favor of the Cardinals.

Hartwick will have to rebound quickly as they turn their attention to another key conference road contest at Utica on Wednesday night at 4 PM.
