WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hartwick offense started a bit slow in the 1st quarter, only getting off two shots.
  • However, the visitors turned things around in the 2nd quarter, taking four shots while holding Utica to zero.
  • Despite holding the shot advantage, it wasn't until the last minute of the half that the Hawks were able to find the back of the cage with an unassisted goal from Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.).
  • With Hartwick up 1-0 going into the second half, the team continued to control play, drawing four penalty corners in the 3rd quarter.
  • Unfortunately, the Pioneers were able to hold the Hawks scoreless.
  • The visitors turned things up a notch in the 4th quarter, forcing Utica into fouls in the circle to tally six corners within the first five minutes of the quarter.
  • Hartwick did not find the back of the cage on the first five, but they were able to convert on the sixth as Sami Shortino (Webster, N.Y.) inserted the corner to Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.).
  • Angioletti quickly found Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.) for the second goal of the game in the 50th minute of play.
  • In addition to the outstanding offensive effort, the Hawks locked down the Pioneers defensively, only conceding one shot in the 1st quarter.
