ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks picked up a critical Empire 8 win on Saturday, defeating the Keuka College Wolves 8-0 on Senior Day.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks came out hot in the first quarter after taking time pre-game to honor their five seniors, Emily Strutt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.), Libby Fortin (State College, Pa.), Holly Calore (Rocky Point, N.Y.), and Kyleigh Marchitto (Clay, N.Y.).
- The home squad pounded the circle with shots, taking 12 with 8 on goal. Three of those shots resulted in goals for Hartwick with Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) getting the party started with a drive from just inside the circle to take the 1-0 lead just under five minutes into the contest.
- A little over three minutes later, Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) put one away off of a rebound for the 2-0 lead.
- The Hawks kept things going, posting one more tally before the end of the 1st quarter. Calore picked up her first goal of her hat trick, tipping in a pass from Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.) at the 14:34 mark.
- Angioletti helped Hartwick take their momentum into the 2nd quarter, posting her second goal of the game as she took a pass from hand, depositing it just inside the right post.
- Things quieted down for the rest of the 2nd as the Hawks took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
- Out of the break, Calore camped out at the post, redirecting a hard drive from Fortin past the Keuka keeper for her second goal of the game.
- Exactly eight minutes later, Fortin found the back of the cage, ripping a drive through the defense to give the Hawks a 6-0 lead. Makenzie Kensel (San Diego, Calif.) notched the assist.
- It didn't take long for Hartwick to get on board in the 4th quarter, getting on the board just 15 seconds into the final frame.
- The goal would be Calore's third of the game, taking her shot off of a cross from fellow senior, Ruzzi.
- Ruzzi closed out the Hawks' scoring putting away an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute of play to wrap up the 8-0 win.
- In the cage, Ashley Luppens (Wading River, N.Y.) and Amanda Klopper (Randolph, N.J.) combined for the shutout win with Luppens getting the win after 45 minutes of work and Klopper closing out the final 15 minutes of play.
- Klopper recorded two saves during the 4th quarter.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
With the win, Hartwick claimed the #2 seed in the Empire 8 standings and will host Houghton in one of two semifinal games on November 2. Game time is TBD and will be announced as more information becomes available.
