DELHI, N.Y. – Hartwick clinched the top seed in the Empire 8 tournament for the second year in a row with a 7-2 over Alfred University in a match that was forced indoors at SUNY Delhi due to rain.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks were tested early at 1st Doubles with Phoebe Olson (Jamestown, N.Dak.) and Jade Killikelly (Jamaica, N.Y.) dropping a tight match 8-7 (7-5).
- However, the 2nd Doubles combo of Ryann Ashby (Malta, N.Y.) and Lily Vanuga (Springville, N.Y.) picked up an 8-3 win in their match, while the 3rd Doubles tandem of Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Colleen Marsh (Marcellus, N.Y.) made quick of their opponents winning 8-0.
- The Singles round saw three of the six matches go to three sets.
- Despite the tightly contested matches, the Hawks would win all three with Olson picking up the 1st Singles win, Ashby notching the 3rd Singles win, and Marsh outlasting her opponent in the third set (12-10) in the 5th Singles spot.
- Killikelly wrapped up her Senior Day match with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at 2nd Singles.
- Maggie Van Valkenburgh (Highland, N.Y.) rounded out the singles winners with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at 6th Singles.
- With the win, the Hawks earned their second-straight #1 seeding in the Empire 8 playoffs which begin on Friday, October 13.
