Hawks Fall to SUNY Delhi in Home Opener

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks stayed within striking distance after the end of the first half, but could not overcome the second half shooting of the visiting SUNY Delhi Broncos, falling 86-63 in their home opener.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick took advantage of being on their home floor for the first time this season, taking a 6-2 lead within the first two minutes of play.
  • The visiting Broncos, fresh off of an exhibition contest at Columbia on Wednesday night, chipped away and eventually took a 10-point lead with just over eight minutes left to play.
  • The Hawks did not let the Broncos' lead get over 10 points and ended the half just eight points behind at 33-25.
  • Tarrell Cumberbatch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Brian Bonin (Cicero, N.Y.) led the Hawks offensively with six apiece.
  • In the second, Hartwick matched SUNY Delhi point-for-point through the first few minutes.
  • However, the Broncos gradually put some distance between themselves and the Hawks, shooting 63% from the field in the half.
  • Delhi would ultimately take the 86-63.
  • Three Hawks scored in double figures on the night.  Shea Barber (Wells Bridge, N.Y.) led the way with 13.
  • Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.J.) and Bonin posted 12 points each.
