ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks wrapped up their regular season on Saturday night with a pair of wins at Oneonta.
THE BASICS

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Hartwick opened their final night of regular season play with a 3-1 win over Baruch.
- The Hawks dominated the first set, putting away 15 kills on 34 total attempts to propel them to the 25-16 win.
- Hartwick picked up the second set win 25-21, but faltered in the third as the Bearcats forced the Hawks into nine attack errors.
- However, Hartwick bounced back in the fourth set, taking control early to put Baruch away 25-12.
- Kaileigh Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) and Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) paced the Hartwick offense in the match as both put away 11 kills.
- Across the match, the Hawks were also dominant on the serve, collecting 11 aces.
- Defensively, Thornton also came up big for Hartwick, notching 21 digs. Brandow and Sarah Petz (Webster, N.Y.) followed with 15 each, while Vanessa Seymour ended with 14 to go along with her 38 assists.
- In the nightcap, the Hawks squared off with town rival, SUNY Oneonta.
- Earlier in the season, Hartwick defeated the Red Dragons in a thrilling five-setter on their home court.
- Oneonta started strong, jumping out to a 9-4 lead, but the Hawks chipped away eventually taking the lead away from the Red Dragons behind the play of Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) and Aaliyah Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).
- During a four-point push, Silofau and Williams combined for a block and one kill a piece.
- Tied at 17-17, Silofau put away a kill to break the deadlock and swing the momentum into her team's favor for the remainder of the set.
- The two rivals went back and forth early in the second set until a strong run behind the serve of Petz put Hartwick up 8-3.
- Hartwick was able to keep one step ahead of the Red Dragons until the middle of the set when Oneonta rallied back from three points down to take a 17-16 lead.
- The two squads went back and forth from there until late in the set when the Hawks were able to capitalize on a Red Dragon and push the final three points needed to capture the second set win.
- Seymour took to the line to serve in the third set with the score knotted up at 8-8.
- The first year proceeded to serve the Hawks to a 14-8 lead and her team would not look back from there, winning the third set 25-16 to complete the 3-0 win.
- Thornton once again led the offensive attack with 15 kills, while Silofau tacked on 10.
- Hartwick was once again stellar on the defensive side of the ball, amassing 14 block assists, six of which belonged to Silofau.
- Thornton and Petz also finished in double-digits with digs, collecting 13 and 12 respectively.

The Hawks will now turn their attention to the Empire 8 playoffs which begin this coming week. Hartwick has earned the 2
nd seed and a first round bye. They will host the winner of Keuka vs Utica in a semifinal match at 7 PM on Thursday in Lambros Arena.
