Oneonta, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's basketball team took the short trip to SUNY Oneonta to take on the Red Dragons in the Battle of the Hills.

Isabella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y) got the scoring started for the Hawks, scoring the first five points.

Oneonta went on a scoring run to pull ahead of Hartwick but the Hawks showed resistance and were able to make some stops and put up points of their own.

The first quarter ended with Hartwick leading 14-13, The Hawks shot 36% from the field and 100% from the free line.

The Red Dragons controlled the second quarter, outscoring the Hawks 14-8 with foul trouble shifting momentum towards the opposition.

With the first half coming to an end, the Hawks trailed 27-22 but a good half overall for the squad bringing down ten rebounds in the second quarter

It was a closely contested third quarter with Hartwick being outscored 14-12, Yadi Smith (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Sareena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.) combined for nine of those points.

As the fourth quarter began with the team down five and the game within reach, the Hawks displayed a newfound energy. A run kickstarted by Astorino and Angelina Maselli (Burlington, Conn.) on the offensive end cut the Red Dragon lead down to two.

The opposition went on a run of their own to put the game out of reach for the Hawks in a high scoring fourth quarter, with the team putting up 21 points.

Hartwick posted 30 points in the paint as well as 16 second chance points, the lead changed nine times and the score was tied four times in a hard fought battle.
