ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks dropped a closely contested game at home against the second-place Alfred University Saxons on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Looking to upset the current #2 team in the Empire 8 standings, the Hawks went right at the Saxons, staying on their heels for the entire first half.
- By the end of the first 20 minutes of play, Hartwick trailed Alfred by two, thanks to an 8-point run in the final minute of the first half.
- The second half played out much like the first, where the Saxons remained in the lead, but the Hawks stayed within striking distance.
- It wasn't until eight minutes left on the clock that Alfred would extend their lead to double digits. However, Hartwick battled back, eventually cutting the Saxons' lead to just two at the 5:01 mark thanks to a triple from Kevin Felasco (Liverpool, N.Y.).
- Alfred would once again get their lead to double-digits with 14 seconds to go, forcing Hartwick to put the Saxons on the line to gain possession.
- Ultimately, Alfred was able to hold off the Hartwick comeback to take the 80-74 win.
- Cooper Francis (Lynbrook, N.Y.) dropped 19 points for the Hawks, nine of which came from behind the arc.
- Felasco once again scored in double-digits for Hartwick, recording 17, while Bobby Connors (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) chipped in 15.
- Jeremiah Boateng (Springfield, Va.) pulled down nine boards to go along with eight points.
