WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Bobby Connors (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) gave Hartwick the lead by drilling a three from the left wing to open the game and the Hawks did not look back from there, shooting 43% from the field in the opening half, while holding the Gators to 27%.
  • While Hartwick led for the entirety of the game, Sage kept it close until late in the first half, when the Hawks would go on an 11-point run to take a 35-22 lead with 4:23 remaining in the half.
  • Holding a 12-point advantage coming out of halftime, the Hawks would continue to stay in control through the second half, especially running the floor, scoring 14 points on the break.
  • The Gators did not go away quietly, taking Hartwick's 19-point lead down to just six with 29 seconds remaining.
  • However, Kevin Felasco (Liverpool, N.Y.) helped secure the win by converting a fast break layup with 22 seconds left on the clock.
  • Cooper Francis (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored the final two Hartwick points via the charity stripe, giving the sophomore a career-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds to complete one of two of the team's double-doubles on the night.
  • Connors picked up the other double-double, amassing 18 rebounds, while chipping in 10 points.
