Sage’s Strong 3rd Quarter Does in Hawks, Fall 57-48

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks fell to the Russell Sage Gators on Tuesday night in Empire 8 action, 57-48.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick battled back from a four-point deficit at the end of the first quarter, to take a two-point lead into halftime.
  • However, the Gators responded in the third quarter, shooting 50% from the field while holding the Hawks to just 20% to take a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter of play.
  • The Hawks did their job defensively, holding Sage to just one made basket from the field.
  • Unfortunately, the visiting Gators would capitalize on their opportunities at the free-throw line, hitting 11 of 14 to maintain their lead over the Hawks down the stretch.
  • Bree Fargnoli (Binghamton, N.Y.) picked up 14 points for the Hawks to go along with six rebounds.
  • Morgan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) and Angelina Maselli (Burlington, Conn.) each chipped in eight points.  Perry also contributed three steals and two blocks to Hartwick's defensive effort.
