ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks opened their 2023 campaign at home with a convincing 18-8 victory over the visiting SUNY Morrisville Mustangs on Wednesday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) got things started for the Hawks, notching her first goal of the season just over five minutes into the contest.
- Morrisville responded with a goal of their own a little over a minute later, but Hartwick went on to score nine unanswered goals between the 7:40 mark in the first quarter and the 14:08 mark in the third quarter.
- The Hawks were able to get to the running clock after taking a 10-goal lead at the 9:26 mark in the third quarter as Emily Madigan (Syracuse, N.Y.) tallied her second goal of the game.
- However, the Mustangs battled back several times throughout the final quarter, but the Hartwick offense would prove to be too much down the stretch.
- Vaccarelli led the Hawks with six points on four goals and two assists.
- The sophomore was followed closely by Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.), scoring three goals and recording two assists.
- Also scoring hat tricks for the Hawks was Ellie Masterpole (Syracuse, N.Y.), Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y.), and Madigan.
- Maddi Morrison (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) notched her first collegiate win in the cage for Hartwick, recording eight saves on 16 shots on goal.
