Hawks Score 10 Unanswered en Route to 16-4 Road Win Over Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Hawks made the most of their final prep before Empire 8 play opens next weekend, by rolling past the Plattsburgh State Cardinals 16-4 on the road.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Cardinals jumped ahead of the Hawks just 14 seconds into the contest.
  • It took some time for Hartwick to even the score, but when they did, it sparked a 10-goal run from the end of the 1st quarter to the 3:38 mark in the 2nd quarter.
  • Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored the equalizer at the 3:28 mark in the 1st with a long strike from just inside the offensive zone.  Pete Conley (Foxborough, Mass.) assisted on the game-tying goal.
  • From there, the Hawks would score nine more unanswered tallies before Plattsburgh could get back on the board at the end of the 2nd quarter.
  • Hartwick kept the momentum going in the 3rd quarter, holding the Cardinals scoreless for those 15 minutes, while notching 4 more goals of their own to take a 14-2 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • Each team would score twice in the 4th, with Hartwick coming out on top 16-4.
  • As a team, the Hawks caused 16 turnovers.  They were also efficient in transition, converting 30 of 36 clear attempts.
  • Kyle McKee (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded 17 saves in the win for an .810 save percentage.
  • Offensively, Conley led the way notching eight points with six goals and two assists.
  • From there, Hartwick spread the wealth as eight other Hawks tallied at least one goal.
