BUFFALO, N.Y. – Hartwick Women's Lacrosse quickly overcame an early 3-1 deficit, taking control in the 2
nd quarter to spark a 17-11 win over the Medaille University Mavericks in the team's conference opener.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Mavericks took a 3-1 lead just under five minutes into the contest.
- The Hawks cut the Medaille lead to one at the 7:10 mark. However, the scoring for both teams went stagnant until just over three minutes remaining in the opening quarter.
- Hartwick would go on to out-score the Mavericks 3-1 down the stretch to take a 5-4 lead into the 2nd quarter.
- The Hawks took over in the 2nd, scoring four-straight to before Medaille could post another tally.
- Up 9-5 entering the second half, the 3rd quarter mirrored the 1st, with both teams going back and forth posting goals.
- The Hawks came out with one more than the Mavericks to extend their lead to five goals with just 15 more minutes to play.
- Hartwick continued to stay one step ahead of Medaille to claim the key Empire 8 win, 17-11.
- The team was nearly perfect at distributing the ball, assisting on 14 of the team's 17 goals.
- Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) set the pace, picking up nine of those 14.
- Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y.) and Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) both notched four goals in the contest, while Hanna Goodreau (North Reading, Mass.) and Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.) each added three to the cause.
