ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Hawks could not overcome a strong Nazareth 3
rd quarter, falling 18-9 in Empire 8 action on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- After the Golden Flyers scored first just 21 seconds into the contest, the Hawks responded 34 seconds later win an unassisted goal from Ellie Masterpole (Syracuse, N.Y.).
- Nazareth went ahead briefly at the 12:45 mark in the 1st quarter, but Hartwick came right back to score three in a row as Masterpole scored another and Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) pitched in two goals.
- Nazareth found the back of the net with 4:12 remaining in the opening quarter, but Jessica Betts gave the two-goal lead right back to the Hawks with an unassisted goal with just over 2 minutes remaining.
- Unfortunately, the Golden Flyers notched a tally with 23 seconds left in the 1st to cut Hartwick's lead to just one.
- The Hawks put seven of their eight shots on net in the 2nd quarter, but it was Nazareth who would score in the quarter, picking up two at the 4:48 mark and 3:31 mark to take a 6-5 lead into the half.
- Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.) got in on the scoring action for the Hawks, knotting the score up 6-6.
- However, Nazareth went on a tear for the rest of the 3rd, rattling off eight unanswered to take the commanding 14-6 lead.
- The Hawks looked claw back into the contest in the 4th as Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.), Vaccarelli, and Masterpole all scored, but it wasn't enough with the host Golden Flyers adding four more of their own to claim the 18-9 win.
