Seven-Goal 1st Quarter Propels Men’s Lacrosse to Win over Keuka

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick Men's Lacrosse team came out of the gate hot, posting six-straight goals before the Wolves could get on the board to propel them to a 20-4 Empire 8 win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Hawks erupted for seven goals in the 1st quarter, six of which occurred before Keuka could get on the board.
  • Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) posted two goals in the run, while Seth Bellow (Holliston, Mass.) added one goal and two assists.
  • Hartwick added four more goals in the 2nd quarter to take an 11-2 advantage headed into halftime.
  • The Hawks opened the third with two quick goals at the 14:43 and 14:36 marks.
  • Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) tallied the first of those in a man-up opportunity after Keuka was flagged for a penalty at the end of the 2nd quarter.
  • Colby Simonetti (Pittsford, N.Y.) picked up the second of those two.  Both goals were assisted by Pete Conley (Foxborough, Mass.).
  • Keuka tallied two goals in the third, but Hartwick completely shut the door in the 4th quarter scoring five unanswered including Ryan Nevins (Warwick, N.Y.) recording his first collegiate goal at the 12:58 mark.
  • The Hawks were also stellar defensively, causing the Wolves to turn the ball over 28 times.
  • Hartwick were a force on ground balls as well, picking up 42 to Keuka's 20.  Liam Downey led the way for the Hawks in ground balls, picking up five.
  • Kyle McKee (Wantagh, N.Y.) picked up the win in net, stopping six while just allowing the two goals in just over 51 minutes of work.

The Hawks are on the road for three-straight Empire 8 contests, starting with a mid-week trip to Utica on Wednesday, April 12 at 4 PM.
