Hawks Send Seniors Out in Style with 20-1 Win over the Wolves

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick Women's Lacrosse sent their 2023 seniors out with style, controlling play from start to finish to defeat the Keuka College Wolves 20-1 to stay unbeaten in Empire 8 play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Hawks rattled off 11 unanswered tallied in the first half, starting with an unassisted tally from Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) just over a minute into the game.
  • The 11-goal run included three goals each from Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y.) and Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.).
  • Defensively, Hartwick held the Wolves to just three shots on goal through the first 30 minutes of play.
  • The Hawks picked up right where they left off, picking up for goals in the 3rd quarter.
  • The team's only blemish in those 15 minutes was a free position goal from.  The Keuka score would end up being the only goal in the game for the visitors.
  • Hartwick closed out the game, scoring five more times in the 4th quarter to complete the 20-1 Empire 8 win.
  • Marten finished as the points leader for the Hawks, notching two goals and four assists.
  • Stringer and Vaccarelli followed close behind, collecting five points each.  Vaccarelli picked her five up on goals, while Stringer put away four goals and picked up an assist.
  • Maddi Morrison (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) stopped five shots to earn the win between the pipes.

The Hawks stay at home this week, taking on Utica University in a mid-week Empire 8 contest on Wednesday, April 12 at 4 PM.
