ONEONTA, N.Y. – The 2023 Outdoor Track and Field Empire 8 Championships concluded its second and final day of competition on Saturday afternoon. Seven teams came into the meet aspiring for the Empire 8 championship trophy. After 22 contested events over these last two days, the Hartwick Men's Track and Field team finished with 7 points, placing them 7th for the meet. Their points came from their strong relays and outstanding performance in the throwing events.

The team of Corey Quomony (Aberdeen, Md.), Joe Catalano (Chester, N.Y.), Kevin Mason (Galloway, N.J.), and Patrick Conteh (Salisbury, Md.) earned the Hawks 2 points in the 4x100m Relay running 45.82 for 5th place.

The 4x400m Relay team of Conteh, Aidan Freda (Westtown, N.Y.), Mason, and Catalano finished 7th with a time of 3:43.92. Their performance was the best time of the season.

After a strong performance yesterday in the Javelin, Robert Burns Jr. (Copake, N.Y.) would come away with another personal best performance in the Shot Put. His throw of 38 ft. 7 inches placed him 11th overall in the competition. Prior to the Shot Put, Burns Jr. finished 15th in the Discus.

Quomony, Conteh, and Mason, returned to the track after the 4x100m Relay for the 200m where they would finish 18th, 19th, and 23rd respectively. Quomony's performance of 23.79 seconds was his second time dipping under 24 seconds in his career.

Today's meet marks the end of the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field Season. The Hawks will return next fall for the 2023 cross country season.
