ONEONTA, N.Y. – Director of Athletics, John Czarnecki is pleased to announce Lindsey Kunkel as the next Head Track and Field Coach at Hartwick.
Kunkel most recently served as the Assistant Track and Field Coach at Hamilton College, coaching hurdles, high jump, and horizontal jumps. Prior to Hamilton, Kunkel spent time in Spokane, Wash., coaching at both the community college and high school levels, designing workout programs for sprinters, jumpers, and mid-distance runners.
Kunkel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion from Emporia State University, where she finished her collegiate track career as an NCAA Division II All-American in the 4x400 relay. She then pursued her Master of Science degree in Education at Western Oregon University where she also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach.
"I am happy to announce that Lindsey will be taking over as the Head Coach of our Men's and Women's Track and Field programs," commented Czarnecki. "Lindsey's experience coaching at both the Division II and Division III levels will be a tremendous asset as we look to continue to build our track and field programs."
"To say that I am excited for the opportunity to work for Hartwick College and become a part of the Oneonta community is an understatement," expressed Kunkel. "After meeting colleagues from the Athletic Department, staff, and athletes from the team, it became clear to me that Hartwick is a special place with people that value athletics. I am eager to build track and field and cross country programs that everyone can be proud of."
"I would like to thank all five members of the search committee for entrusting me with this position and welcoming me to the Hawks team: John Czarnecki, Director of athletics; Betty Powell, Associate Director of Athletics;
Nathan Crews, Head Cross Country Coach; Brittany Stroop, Director of Athletic Communications; and Alicia Richardson, DEIB officer," concluded Kunkle.
In addition to her duties as the head coach of both track and field programs, Kunkel will be serving as the Assistant Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach.
