Field Hockey Stung in 4th by Yellowjackets

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Field Hockey team hosted the 18th ranked University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Friday afternoon after the visitors put away a 4th quarter tally.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
  • The Hawks struggled to find their footing early in the contest as the nationally ranked Yellowjackets prevented the squad from transitioning into their offense.
  • The University of Rochester forced seven corners across the opening thirty minutes of play, but the Hartwick defense prevented them from finding the back of the cage.
  • The Hawks began to assert themselves in the third quarter, matching the Yellowjackets in shots at three apiece. 
  • Rochester continued their offensive pressure in the fourth quarter and their efforts eventually paid off with a goal in the 49th minute of play.
  • Hartwick pressed late, causing two penalty corners of their own, but could not find the equalizer.
  • Ashley Luppens (Wading River, N.Y.) only allowed the one tally in the 4th, but recorded 14 saves across the contest.
  • Libby Fortin (State College, Pa.), Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.), and Makenzie Kensel (San Diego, Calif.) posted shots on goal for the Hawks.
  • Hartwick returns home on Sunday as they host RPI at 1 PM.
