Hartwick Drops Home Match against Keene State

Oneonta, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Soccer team closed out their weekend with a match against the Owls of Keene State, an early penalty would prove to be the difference in the game.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score:  Keene State 1, Hartwick 0

  • Location:  Oneonta, N.Y.

  • Records:  Keene State (2-1-1, 0-0-0 LEC) Hartwick (1-2-1, 0-0-0 Empire 8)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick matched up against Keene State in a close battle that saw multiple opportunities for both squads but a lone goal was scored for the Owls.

  • The Hawks would go down early as the opposition netted a penalty kick in the 6th minute and never gave up the lead after.

  • Trailing by one goal, the Hawks banded together to create opportunities for an equalizer, putting up four shots in the first half but none would find the back of the net.

  • With the second half underway, the Hawks began to make progress into the opponent's half but couldn't get any dangerous attacks to formulate.

  • The team's second half defense was strong as they limited the Keene attack to very limited productivity as the Owls posted 4 second half shots on goal, half of what they had in the first half.

  • Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) played an incredible game as she posted 12 saves as well as knocking away multiple crosses that could have spelt more trouble for the Hawks.

  • Hartwick played a good overall game but the early mistake would cause them to fall to Keene State to close out the Mayor's Cup.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will hit the road to face off against the Wolves of Keuka College on Saturday, September 16th at 1PM.
