ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks were able to withstand a 3
rd quarter push from the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons to claim the 5-3 victory in the Battle of the Hills on Wednesday night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks controlled play early in the contest with two shots on goal and one near miss high off of a shot from Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.)
- Kylie Krawiec (Burlington, N.J.) notched the first goal of her collegiate career at the 8:35 mark in the first quarter, putting away a ricochet off the post to give Hartwick the early lead.
- After earning a penalty corner in the 22nd minute of play, Sami Shortino (Webster, N.Y.) inserted to Ruzzi who found Libby Fortin (State College, Pa.) for a drive into the back of the cage for a 2-0 Hawks' lead.
- The Red Dragons cut the lead in half in the 29th minute.
- However, the Hawks answered in the 3rd quarter, notching two tallies, one early in the 37th minute and another late in the 39th minute. Ruzzi picked up the first, while Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.) deflected a shot from Holly Calore (Rocky Point, N.Y.) for the second.
- Unfortunately for Hartwick, Oneonta responded quickly putting away two goals within a minute of each other off of penalty corners to make the score 4-3.
- Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) gave the Hawks a much-needed cushion in the 52nd minute with an unassisted strike to take the 5-3 lead.
- Hartwick posted thirty shots across the 60 minutes of play, putting 24 of them on goal.
- Ashley Luppens (Wading River, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal, recording six saves.

The Hawks have a break in action, not returning to the field until September 16 at 11 AM against DeSales University at home.
