GENEVA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Volleyball team faced a high-powered William Smith offense in their weekend opener on Friday night. Despite a hard fought third set, the Hawks ultimately fell, 3-0.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Despite falling 25-13 in both of the first two sets, the Hawks bounced back in the third set, jumping out to an early 8-3 lead.
- However, the Herons responded by picking up a few points across each held serve to eventually tie the set up at 10-all.
- The set continued to go back and forth from there for the next seven points for each squad.
- Unfortunately for the Hawks, William Smith put together a strong run to close out the third set by a score of 25-18 to complete the three-set sweep.
- The Herons held the Hawks' offense in check, only allowing 10 kills throughout the entire match.
- Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) led the Hawks with 5 kills to go along with 11 digs.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks return to the William Smith gymnasium on Saturday for two more matches. Hartwick starts their day at 10:30 AM against Thiel College and will wrap up their weekend against newly announced Empire 8 foe, SUNY Brockport at 3:30 PM.
