ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks took control early in the second half, but saw their seven-point lead slip away in a tough Empire 8 loss to the visiting Alfred University Saxons.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Jaden Carter (Scotch Plains, N.J.) scored five of Hartwick's first seven points to take an early lead against the visiting Saxons.
- However, Alfred quickly took over the lead as they went on an 8-0 scoring run the turn the momentum back into their favor.
- Despite falling behind, the Hawks stayed within striking distance, trailing by four entering half time.
- Carter would spearhead the comeback out of the break, including a big three-pointer just over two minutes into the 2nd half to put the Hawks up by one.
- Later in the half, Carter struck again from behind the arc to put the Hawks up by 10 with just under 11 minutes to play.
- The Saxons once again put the pressure on the Hawks taking a two-point lead with 6:45 left to play.
- The two Empire 8 foes would trade leads one more time, but it was ultimately the Saxons who would come away with the win in the end.
- Carter led all Hartwick scorers, posting a career-high 21 points. The sophomore guard was perfect from the line and shot 5 for 11 from the field including three from distance.
