Hawks Fall in Conference Action to the Elmira Soaring Eagles

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks put together a handful of runs to stay close to the Soaring Eagles, but it wasn't enough in the end, falling 93-74.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Jaden Carter (Scotch Plains, N.J.) picked up where he left off from the night before, pouring in 12 points, including a two-for-four performance from distance.
  • The Hawks and the Soaring Eagles remained close throughout the first part of the opening 20 minutes until the 2:43 mark when Elmira pulled away by 11.
  • Hartwick responded in the closing minutes to cut Elmira's lead to four.
  • The Soaring Eagles quickly took their four-point lead to a 23-point lead over the first seven minutes of the second half.
  • The young Hawks did not go away quietly, led by junior captain, Cooper Francis (Lynbrook, N.Y.).
  • Down 19 with 12:21 to go, Francis scored six-straight to get the Hawks within 14.
  • The rest of the squad took over from there to with Alex Klybas (Fishkill, N.Y.) hitting two big threes and Carter adding to both his assist and point total in the comeback.
  • With just under seven remaining, Hartwick had cut into Elmira's lead and trailed by six after Kevin Felasco (Liverpool, N.Y.) tipped in a rebound.
  • Unfortunately, that is as close as the Hawks would get as Elmira pulled away once again to take the Empire 8 win.
  • Francis, Carter, and Klybas would all end their evenings in double digits with Francis leading the way with 18.
  • Carter wrapped up the game with 16 points and five assists, while Klybas finished with 10.
