THE BASICS

- Records: Hartwick (6-8 Overall, 4-3 Empire 8), Sage (4-12 Overall, 2-5 Empire 8)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Gators scored the first two buckets of the game, but it was Angelina Maselli's (Burlington, Conn.) back-to-back three balls that set the tone for the Hawks in the first half.
- Hartwick pulled away from Sage from mid-way through the opening quarter and continued to add to their lead through the early stages of the 2nd quarter, leading by as many as 16.
- Both squads went scoreless for nearly three minutes towards the end of the first half, but Maselli broke the draught, converting an old fashioned three-point play with 24 seconds remaining in the 2nd.
- The Hawks continued to stay ahead of the Gators during the 3rd quarter and turned it up a notch early in the 4th quarter.
- Hartwick hovered around a 16-point lead for the bulk of the 4th quarter, but foul trouble for the visitors allowed for the host Gators to claw their way back into the contest.
- Sage was able to cut Hartwick's lead to 8 with just under two minutes remaining, but a Bree Fargnoli (Binghamton, N.Y.) steal followed by her fast break layup put the Hawks back up by 10 and secured the 63-53 victory.
- Maselli led the Hawks in scoring, dropping 14 across 30 minutes of work.
- Fargnoli ended with 10 points, while Caitie Unger (Warwick, N.Y.) came off the bench to post 11 points.
