Hartwick Defeated By Nazareth On The Road


ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Hartwick Men's Basketball team faced off against Empire 8 opponent Nazareth on the road.

 

THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Hartwick 64  Nazareth 93

  • Location: Rochester, N.Y.

  • Records: Hartwick (1-15, 0-9  Empire 8), Nazareth (11-6, 8-1 Empire 8)

 

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Shea Barber (Wells Bridge, N.Y.) opened up the scoring for the Hawks, hitting a pull up jumper to start the night.

  • Jaden Carter (Scotch Plains, N.J.) was able to spot Xymier Thomas (Binghamton, N.Y.) on the opposite wing for a three pointer before a Nazareth timeout with the Hawks down one.

  • Halfway through the first period after Nazareth was able to stretch their lead, Cooper Francis (Lynbrook, N.Y.) hit Brian Bonin (Cicero, N.Y.) for a three pointer to chip away at the deficit.

  • Thomas would be fouled behind the arc and sink all three of his free throws, next possession Bonin pulled down an offensive board and scored to pull within four.

  • The first half ended with the Hawks down nine, Thomas was the leading scorer with 15 points including a 4-5 performance from three point distance. Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.J.) followed with eight points.

  • With the second half underway, Nazareth controlled their lead and carried it to the end of the game. Three Hawks posted double digits in scoring as Thomas led with 18 points, Henry Perkins (Albany, N.Y.) had 12 points and Oyediran had ten.

Hartwick will head to St. John Fisher for a conference match up on Saturday, January 27th at 4:00 PM.
