Hawks Can’t Overcome Highlanders’ Hot Start, Fall 93-76

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Hartwick found themselves on the losing end of an Empire 8 battle on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Houghton University Highlanders.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Hawks battled the Highlanders through the first five minutes of the contest until the host squad began to pull away, ultimately building a 20-point lead by the end of the first half.
  • Houghton continued to dominate throughout the second half, building their lead to as high as 26 points.
  • However, the Hawks caught fire late in the half behind the hot hands of Tarrell Cumberbatch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Kevin Felasco (Liverpool, N.Y.), to get within 13 of the Highlanders.
  • The Hawks would ultimately run out of time for a comeback, falling by the final score of 93-76.
  • Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.J.) once again led the Hawks in scoring as the sophomore dropped 18 points on 7 for 17 shooting.
  • Cumberbatch was close behind adding 15, while Henry Perkins (Albany, N.Y.) added a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on their home floor as they host Alfred University on Friday, January 12 in the first night of a conference weekend.
