CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hartwick Men's Cross Country team headed to Hamilton College, competing in the 8k race amongst eight teams.

The Hawks geared up for the Hamilton Invitational after competing at SUNY Fredonia where they got a chance to get a preview of what the NCAA Regional course would look like.

Erik Higgins (Buffalo, N.Y.) was the first to cross the finish line for the Hawks, coming in just over 30 minutes for a finishing mark of 30 minutes and nine seconds, placing 43rd.

Devon Spalding (Mineola, N.Y.) kept up his momentum from a solid finish at Fredonia, clocking in at 32 minutes and 43 seconds to complete his day with a new personal best.

Larry McCumiskey (Delhi, N.Y.) has been stellar in his first season with the Hawks, coming in at 33 minutes and 24 seconds, a 1:29 improvement.

Calvin Higgins (Buffalo, N.Y.) kept the Hawks rolling, coming across the finish line with a time of 34 minutes and 50 seconds, marking the largest improvement on the team with almost a three minute differential.

Jayden Perera (Middle Village, N.Y.) followed Higgins closely, coming in with a personal best as well with a finishing mark of 35 minutes and five seconds to cap off the solid day for Hartwick.

COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH NATE CREWS
"Men stood out a lot more this weekend over the 8 kilometer distance than they have in the past. All of our first years ran personal best led by Devon Spalding, running eight seconds faster than last weekend. Larry McCumiskey also ran a personal best of 33:24, a minute and 29 seconds faster than he's ever run. Calvin Higgins had the largest improvement on the team running 34:50, two minutes and forty two seconds faster than last weekend. Finally Jayden Perera came in at 35:05, a minute and 24 second improvement from last weekend."
