ALFRED, N.Y. – The Hawks outlasted the Saxons, winning a five-set thriller to get back in the win column.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Hartwick came out swinging against the Saxons in the first set, putting away 14 kills in 36 attempts to take the 25-16 first-set win.
- However, Alfred turned in two dominant performances to take the second and third sets as they held the Hawks to just 16 kills across the two sets.
- With their backs against the wall, Hartwick pulled out a 25-22 win in set four as they capitalized on seven Alfred attack errors.
- The decisive fifth set turned into a marathon with the Hawks playing from behind for the majority of the set.
- Down 13-10, Hartwick Head Coach Janet Donovan called a timeout to regroup her squad.
- The senior laden squad took it from there to claw their way back into the set ultimately tying it at 14-14.
- Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) put away a kill to put Hartwick up 15-14.
- Hartwick and Alfred traded serve errors forcing an Alfred timeout with the Hawks up 16-15.
- Setter Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) put away the game-winner out of the timeout to put the Hawks back into the win column.
- Silofau tallied 13 kills on the night to pace the offense. Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) and Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) followed close behind putting away 12 and 11 kills respectively.
- Hornick, who collected 39 assists was also all over the floor defensively picking up 16 digs.
- Swartz and Silofau picked up the volleyball double-double with 13 and 10.
- Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) chipped in 10 digs to go along with her team-high three aces.
