WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks were forced to rally back from an early deficit in the first set, but steadily clawed their way back in to take the first set 25-23.
- The Pioneers continued to put pressure on the Hawks in the second, however a strong serving run by Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) forced Utica into a string of unforced errors to propel the Hawks to a 25-17 win.
- The third set was just as tough for Hartwick as they worked point after point to stay just ahead of Utica to claim the 25-20 win to cap off the 3 set victory.
- Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) picked up 10 kills while Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) and Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) chipped in nine each.
- While the Hawks were not as strong at the net as they usually are, they did contain Utica's attack by picking up 60 digs.
- Swartz led Hartwick in digs with 19.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
