WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks were efficient offensively throughout the night, getting off 29 shots; putting 16 of those on goal.
  • Unfortunately, the Hawks were unable to finish in front of the cage in the 1st quarter.
  • The offense found their groove in the 2nd quarter behind the play of Makayla Bales (Sidney, N.Y.).
  • Bales, who scored her first collegiate goal on Saturday, notched the second and third of her career scoring 28 seconds into the 2nd quarter and again a minute and a half later to put the Hawks up 2-0.
  • After assisting on the prior goal by Bales, Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.) got in on the action putting away her fifth goal of the season to extend Hartwick's lead to 3-0.
  • Caroline Aspuru (Farmingville, N.Y.), Makenzie Kensel (San Diego, Calif.), and Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) followed up with goals of their own to close out the 2nd quarter scoring frenzy.
  • In addition to scoring her first goal of the season, Aspuru collected two assists on the night.
  • Hartwick took advantage of the 6-0 lead in the 2nd half, cycling in their reserves.
  • While it did not show on the scoreboard, the Hawks remained dominant over the final 30 minutes of play, outshooting Sage 11-3 and picking up three penalty corners while only conceding one.
  • Head Coach Erin Autera praised her entire squad following the contest stating, "we had excellent execution in the second quarter and a solid performance by all in the second half.  It was a great team effort overall."
  • Ashley Luppens (Wading River, N.Y.) and Ava Reynolds (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) split time in the cage for Hartwick with Reynolds denying two Sage shots to preserve the shutout.
