ONEONTA, N.Y. – Women's Volleyball kept things rolling on Friday night with a Senior Night victory over the SUNY Geneseo Knights.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Hartwick 3, Geneseo 1 (25-18, 16-25, 25-15, 25-14)

- Record: Hartwick (18-2 Overall, 8-2 Empire 8), Geneseo (9-14 Overall, 6-4 Empire 8)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks and the Knights went back and forth early on in a first set that saw eight tie scores and three lead changes.
- However, Hartwick gradually began to pull away late in the set to go up 1 set to 0 with a 25-18 win.
- Unfortunately, Geneseo flipped the script on the Hawks in the 2nd set, holding the home team to just nine kills for the 25-16 win to tie the contest at one set a piece.
- The Hawks regained the momentum in the first set behind the serve of Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii).
- Hartwick pushed points behind Silofau as the squad jumped out to a 19-10 lead.
- Geneseo made a brief run of their own, the Hawks were able to shut it down to cruise to a 25-15 3rd set win.
- The 4th set was much of the same as the Hawks pushed points behind the serve of Sophia Palladino (Owego, N.Y.).
- The sophomore picked up two of her team-high four aces during the run.
- Hartwick continued to tack onto their lead with each held serve to close out the match with a 25-14 win in the 4th set.
- Seniors, Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.), Silofau, and Aaliyah Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) turned in strong performances both offensively and defensively for the Hawks with Thornton picked up the volleyball double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs.
- Silofau ended her night with 11 kills, two aces, and three block assists while Williams chipped in seven kills to go along with five block assists and one solo block.
- Senior setter, Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) orchestrated the balance offensive attack, collecting 41 assists.
- Junior Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) also finished with a double-double, collecting 10 kills and picking up 11 digs.

The Hawks return to the court on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM for their final Empire 8 regular season matchup as they host the Brockport Golden Eagles in Lambros Arena.
