ONEONTA, N.Y. – Women's Volleyball extended their winning streak to six games on Saturday afternoon, defeating the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles 3-1.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks jumped out to a slight advantage in the 1st set, but the Golden Eagles responded halfway through to take a 14-12 lead.
- After battling back and forth, it would be the home squad that would eventually pull away for the 25-18 win.
- Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) served five straight points for the Hawks to allow Hartwick to gain an early lead over Brockport in the 2nd set.
- The Hawks would eventually expand on that lead late in the set with each held serve to take the 25-14 win.
- Looking for the sweep, Hartwick lost their footing in the 3rd set as Brockport claimed an early lead that they would not relinquish to take the set by a score of 25-19.
- The 4th set would prove to be a grind for both teams as the Golden Eagles were looking to force the deciding set while the Hawks were looking to close out the win.
- After a Brockport service error that broke a 3-3 tie, Sophia Palladino (Owego, N.Y.) took to the line, immediately putting down an ace to swing the momentum to Hartwick.
- While not overwhelming Brockport, Hartwick stayed the course and just a step ahead to win the 4th set 25-20 to take the 3-1 win.
- Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) and Swartz both hit double-digits in kills on the afternoon with Silofau putting away 13 and Swartz just one behind with 12.
- While they didn't hit double digits, the trio of Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.), Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.), and Aaliyah Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) made the most of their attempts in key spots, finishing with nine, eight, and seven kills respectively.
- Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) dished out another 41 assists while also picking up a team-high 10 digs.

The Hawks will square off against SUNY Oneonta in the Battle of the Hills on Saturday, November 9 at 3 PM in their final regular season contest before the start of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament.
